DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel in Moshi for rest and final preparations for your adventure. Get a good night’s sleep before your climb.

The trek begins with a scenic walk through the rainforest. You’ll follow a well-trodden trail surrounded by trees and vibrant greenery. As you make your way toward Machame Camp, you’ll enjoy the peaceful sounds of the forest, setting the stage for the adventure ahead.

Today, you will leave the rainforest behind and enter a new terrain of heath and moorland. The path is relatively gradual, offering great views of the mountain. As you move toward Shira Camp, the landscape will change to wide, open spaces with scattered shrubs and rocky outcrops.

Distance: 5km/3.1mi

Hiking Time: 4-5 hours

Habitat: Heath and Moorland

On Day 3, you will trek towards Lava Tower, passing through an alpine desert environment. The path winds through rocky and sparse vegetation, offering panoramic views. After reaching Lava Tower, you will descend towards Barranco Camp, where you’ll find a more diverse landscape with lush vegetation.

Today, you’ll embark on a challenging climb towards Barafu Camp. The route is rocky and steep, but the views of the summit and surrounding landscape are incredible. As you approach Barafu Camp, you’ll experience a sense of accomplishment, knowing you’re closer to your goal.

Distance: 9km/5.6mi

Hiking Time: 7-9 hours

Habitat: Alpine Desert

Accommodation: Barafu Camp

On Day 5, the trek to the summit begins in the early hours. The climb is strenuous, but as you reach the summit, the views are awe-inspiring. After spending time at the summit, you’ll begin the descent to Mweka Camp, passing through changing landscapes along the way.

Elevation: 4,600m/15,090ft to 5,895m/19,341ft to 3,100m/10,170ft

Distance: 13km/8.1mi

Hiking Time: 12-14 hours

Habitat: Alpine Desert

Accommodation: Mweka Camp

On the final day of the trek, you’ll descend from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate through the rainforest. The path is much easier today, and you’ll enjoy the lush greenery around you. Once you reach Mweka Gate, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi, where you can relax and celebrate your success.
