DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel in Moshi for rest and final preparations for your adventure. Get a good night’s sleep before your climb.

The trek starts at Lemosho Gate, where you’ll enter the beautiful rainforest. As you walk through lush greenery, you will enjoy the fresh air and peaceful sounds of the forest. The trail is gentle, allowing you to gradually adjust to the altitude.

Distance: 7km/4.3mi

Hiking Time: 4-5 hours

On Day 2, the trail takes you out of the rainforest and into a stunning moorland landscape. You’ll enjoy beautiful views of Mount Kilimanjaro as you make your way toward Shira II Camp. The terrain is moderate, and the altitude will start to feel a bit higher.

Distance: 7km/4.3mi

Hiking Time: 5-6 hours

Today, you will hike towards Lava Tower, which is known for its rocky terrain and incredible views. This challenging section will take you through alpine desert landscapes, and after reaching Lava Tower, you’ll descend to Barranco Camp. The change in landscape is quite striking.

Distance: 10km/6.2mi

Hiking Time: 6-7 hours

Day 4 is a challenging day as you will hike towards Barafu Camp. The path is rocky and steep, but as you get closer to Barafu Camp, the views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding areas become more breathtaking. It’s a tough climb, but the excitement of being closer to the summit keeps you going.

Distance: 9km/5.6mi

Hiking Time: 7-9 hours

Habitat: Alpine Desert

Accommodation: Barafu Camp

Today is the big day! You’ll start early in the morning to make your way to the summit. The climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro is tough, but the views are worth every step. Once you reach the summit, take in the stunning panorama before starting the descent to Mweka Camp.

Distance: 13km/8.1mi

Hiking Time: 12-14 hours

Habitat: Alpine Desert

On the final day of your trek, you’ll descend from Mweka Camp back to Mweka Gate. The walk is much easier as you move through the beautiful rainforest. Once you reach Mweka Gate, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi, where you can relax and celebrate your achievement.
